Our Story

U.S. National Handball Center
Home of the St. Louis Hinder Club

Welcome to the United States National Handball Center

A state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the future of handball.

Located in Hazelwood, Missouri, the United States National Handball Center (USNHC) is the first of its kind—a world-class venue built to foster the growth, excellence, and community of handball across the nation.

How Did We Get Here?

The USNHC is also the proud new home of the St. Louis Hinder Club (SLHC), a handball institution with more than 50 years of history. The club first operated out of the historic Armory on Market Street in downtown St. Louis before relocating to a seven-court facility in the suburb of Arnold.

In 2024, the SLHC lost its lease—a story all too familiar to the handball community. Courts disappear. Facilities are repurposed. But what seemed like an ending became a bold new beginning.

In an unexpected turn, SLHC members discovered a former Spaulding Racquet Club—its walls stripped but its structure strong. They saw potential: a foundation ready to be transformed into something extraordinary. Fueled by determination and a deep love for the game, the club set out to create something truly unique: a handball-exclusive, handball-owned facility.

From Local Vision to National Mission

The ambition didn’t stop with a local club. Recognizing the opportunity for something bigger, SLHC engaged the United States Handball Association (USHA) in a visionary plan: to create a national home for handball.

In partnership with the Missouri State Handball Association (MSHA) and the USHA, the dream took shape. What started as an effort to preserve St. Louis handball became a historic milestone for the entire sport.

The result? The United States National Handball Center—the first dedicated handball facility in the country.

What began as a setback became a monumental victory—not just for St. Louis, but for the future of handball itself.

More Than a Building—A Legacy in the Making

The USNHC is more than just a facility. It’s a testament to community, resilience, and passion. It represents the perfect balance of tradition and growth, a model for what’s possible when handball players unite behind a vision.

This is handball’s new home. This is the future of The Perfect Game.
